Parallel & Meta-Search Engines

The Meta Crawler (Softbot) has been a favorite of mine for some time. It is a parallel engine which simultaneously uses OpenText, WebCrawler, Inktomi, Alta Vista, InfoSeek, Yahoo, Lycos, Excite, and EINet Galaxy to get it's returns. If you need to find a particular site quickly it's one of the best.

HotBot, (help page) (50 Million+ Pages) (run by Hotwired), with a new interface, offers a sort of lateral metasearch. Without retyping your query, you can click radio buttons to get the results of your search in AlltheWeb, Google, Inktomi, or Teoma. It is C/NET's favorite search engine.
